Goku is the main character in all of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. Goku makes his appearance in the first series and the entire series revolves around Goku, his family, his enemies, and his incredible power.

Son Gohan Species: 1/2 Saiya-jin 1/2 Human
Eyes: Black (or Green in Super Saiya-jin mode)

Role: Main Character
Gohan is another main character that shows up in Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. Gohan is the son of Gokou and ChiChi and grows up to be incredibly powerful. The key to Gohan's power is his anger. Gohan's anger in the Cell Saga leads him to go directly to Super Saiya-jin 2, and in the Raditz Saga Gohan becomes temporarily stronger than Piccolo and Gokou when he got mad. During the end of Dragonball GT, Gohan is not nearly as strong as he should be because he stops training. This is because at that time the earth is not in danger. Even so, Gohan remains one of the strongest warriors in the universe.

Role: Main Character
Goten is also a main character that shows up in Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. Goten is the second son of Gokou and ChiChi and lokks exactly like Goku did in the first Dragonball. Goten is also extremely powerful, like his brother and father, and goes Super Saiya-jin at seven years old. Goten is best friends with Trunks and they fuse very often to form Gotenks.

Kullilin Species: Human

Hair: None (or black after the Cell Saga)
Role: Main Character
Kulilin is the strongest human warrior ever besides Tenshinhan. Kulilin is among the strongest of the Z warriors although others like Piccolo, Vegeta, and Gokou surpass his power by millions. Kullilin is introduced in Dragonball and lasts throughout Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. Krillin settles down and gets maried to Android 18 later in Dragonball Z and has a daughter named Marron.

Piccolo Species: Namekian
Eyes: Black
Hair: None
Role: Main Character
Piccolo is the strongest Namekian ever and even fuses with Kame to become even more powerful. He is a main character throughout Dragonall, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. Piccolo is extremely strong and gives his life many times to save the earth and to save the only person he cares about, Son Gohan. Piccolo begins in Dragonball as an enemy to Goku, and they battle many times. Piccolo is the evil half of Kame and the son (if you can call it that) of Piccolo Daimo. Piccolo mentions a few times during Dragonball Z that he still desires to take over the world, but the only thing he really wants is to be the most powerful warrior in the universe. Unfortunately, with people like Gokou, Trunks, and Vegeta around, that is just never going to happen.

Vegeta Species: Saiya-jin
Eyes: Black (or Green in Super Saiya-jin mode)
Hair: Black (or blonde in SSJ mode)
Role: Main Character
Vegeta debuts in Dragonball Z in the Saiya-jin Saga as an enemy. At about a 20,000 power level, Vegeta was one of the most difficult enemies Gokou ever fought against up to that time. Gokou really took a beating from Vegeta during that saga, but eventually Vegeta is surpassed by Gokou, and Vegeta never catches up again. The only thing Vegeta wants in life is to beat and be stronger than his arch nemesis "Kakarotto." Vegeta is immensely jealous that a "lower class Saiya-Jin" like Gokou is so much stronger than he is and can be come a Super Saiya-jin. This very jealousy is what inspires Vegeta to train in 400x gravity and turn Super saiya-jin. Vegeta is the second strongest character in Dragonball Z and GT and I guess that is good enough for him because he becomes a full "good guy" after the Buu Saga.

Tenshinhan Species: Human

Tenshinhan is one of the strongest humans ever. At one time, before Kulilin reached it, Tien was the only human to ever reach a power level of one million. Tenshinhan debuts in Dragonball with Chaozu as an enemy of Goku and even beats Goku in one of the Tenkaichi Budoukai (on a technicality). Tenshinhan has some very powerful attacks and is best friends with Chaozu.

Muten Roshi Species: Human
Eyes: Unknown (sunglasses all the time)
Hair: White
Role: Main Character
Muten Roshi is a dirty, perverted old man, and to him thats a compliment. Muten Roshi was at one time the World's Strongest Man. Roshi made the Kame hame ha and trained Gokou and Kulillin. Master Roshis power level is approximately 150 and he is still not to be messed with. On a separate note, he has the largest collection of pornographic magazines in the world.

Buruma Species: Human
Eyes: Purplish
Hair: Bluish
Role: Main Character
Buruma is the first character introduced in Dragonball. She hits Goku with her car and then, because he is so strong (power level 10), he is unharmed. Buruma, with Vegeta of course, is the mother of Trunks and Bra. She is very talented when it comes to complicated devices but can't fight at all.
Trunks Species: 1/2 Saiya-jin 1/2 Human
Eyes: Purple
Hair: Purple
Role: Main Character
Trunks, and Future Trunks, is one of the strongest of all the Saiya-jins. Trunks carries a very powerful weapon called The Sword of Tapion and is the son of Vegeta and Buruma. Trunks reached Super Saiya-jin at the age of eight and is very, very srtong. Trunks is best friends with Goten and they often fuse to form Gotenks.

Yamucha Species: Human
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black
Role: Main Character
Yamucha is another main character that has been around since the original Dragonball. Yamucha meets Gokou as a desert bandit and eventually follows Gokou on his journeys. He is not very powerful, with a power level much lower than Tenshinhan's. He was trained by King Kai as well as Master Roshi. His training from King Kai makes his power level about as high as Gokou's was right before the Saiyan Saga. unfortunately he never gets much stronger than that. Yamucha is very good friends with Tenshinhan and Puar (the blue cat).

Chaozu Species: Wierd White Midget Alien Emperor

Role: Main Character
Chaozu is a main character that plays a small role in Dragonball Z but a considerably larger role in the original Dragonball. Chaozu has the power of telepathy and can freeze his opponent and restrict that opponents movement. He does this with the power of his mind and it is understood that at one time, on some planet somewhere, Chaozu was an Emperor. Chaozu is best friends with Tenshinhan. No one knows just how these two met but their friendship is remarkable.
Raditz Species: Saiya-jin

Raditz is a very important enemy. Raditz is so important because he, or his death to be more specific, was what hooked alot of fans on Dragonball Z. His saga, tough short lived, also kicked off the Saiya-jin Saga which introduced Vegeta, Nappa, and eventually Freeza. Raditz, though thought to be a monster at the time, was not very strong at all. he had a power level of about 1500 and Vegeta referred to him as a "chicken weakling." Raditz also told Gokou about who he really was and opened up the plot for the rest of the series.

Piccolo Daimo Species: Namekian

Piccolo Daimo was a major character in the original Dragonball and was young Gokou's toughest opponent. Piccolo Daimo stands for Piccolo Devil, and this is exactly what he was. The original Kame had to rid his body of all evil before he could become Kame of Earth. when Kame pushed all evil out of his body, the evil aura personified into Piccolo Daimo. The good side of Piccolo became God and Piccolo Daimo fled to earth where he was defeated by Gokou after a long battle. Gokou used the Super Holy Water to punch clear through Piccolo Daimo. Just before he exploded, Daimo spit out an egg. In the egg was the Piccolo we all know today from Dragonball Z.

Freeza Species: Changeling

Lord Freeza is one of the most ruthless and powerful warriors in all of Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. Freeza was the domainant force in the universe until one Super Saiya-jin, Gokou, stopped him in his tracks. Freeza was involved in a planetary sale business with his men where he would take over entire planets, destroy their inhabitants, and then sell the empty planet to another race that was looking to buy. Freeza owned the Ginyu Force, a very powerful and elite group of idiots with fairly high power levels. Freeza's family was even srtonger than he was. King Kold for example, Freeza's father, was insanely powerful but also fell to a Z Warrior. This warrior was also a Saiya-jin, Future Trunks. Freeza was also brought back form hell in Movie 12 and was killed in one punch from the Great Saiya Man. Freeza's brother, Kooler, also suffered the same fate as the rest of his family, being killed by Goku in Movies 5 and 6. Bardock predicted that Freeza would be killed by a Saiya-jin but who knew just how right he was.
Buu Species: Majin

Role: Enemy Buu was perhaps the most powerful enemy ever in all of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. Buu also did the most amount of damage out of any enemy ever. He managed to absorb nearly every Z Warrior, kill or absorb every human on Earth, destroy the Dragonballs, kill King Kai and blow up the planet Earth itself. All of this was fixed in due time with the Dragon Balls but it took some of the best fighting, and the most death ever seen in the series. As if all of this wasn't bad enough, Buu had several transformations as well, each being stronger than the last. Gokou managed to destroy Buu in the end with a huge Genki Dama.

Nappa Species:
Saiya-jin Eyes: Black

Role: Enemy Nappa made his debut as a ruthless 50 year old warrior that traveled the universe with Vegeta. With a power level of 5000 (unbelievable during the Saiyan Saga) Nappa proved too much for Kulilin, Gohan, Piccolo, Yamucha, Tenshinhan, and Chaozu. Tien and Gohan gave Nappa the most trouble, mostly because Piccolo took a direct hit from a large energy blast to save Gohan. All of the warriors on earth were badly beaten until Gokou came back to Earth and trashed Nappa without breaking a sweat. Being the "good guy" tht he is Gokou didn't kill Nappa, Vegeta did. Nappa was even wished back in Dragonball GT only to be killed yet again by Vegeta.

Dr. Gero Species: Human
Eyes: Black
Hair: Grey
Role: Enemy Dr. Gero was a continuing.... nuisance throughout all of Dragonball and Dragonball Z. Dr. Gero or his computer are responsible for making all of the Androids that appear in the anime and manga (comic books). These Androids all have considerable power and all share a hatred for Gokou (except for #8). Dr. Gero formed the Red Ribbon Army and has been a continuing force throughout many sagas in Dragonball and Dragonball Z. Dr. Gero even put his own brain into an android, #20, but was destroyed by his own creation, Android #17.

Ginyu Force Species:Varied

All Role: Enemies The Ginyu are an elite group of warriors that work for Freeza's planet sale business. The Ginyu that are named are Captain Ginyu, Recoome, Jese, Baata, and Guldo. The Ginyu are considerably powerful and even take out Vegeta in the Freeza Saga. Guldo is the by far the weakest, Recoome is in the middle, Jese doesn't fight, Baata is the fastest, and Captain Ginyu is the strongest.
